Its interesting how people will go crazy, attacking others posts, but will never put their own statement up in one of these....

For example, the Nbel Peace prize went out to one of the best candidates I have seen in a long time. He is a Bangladeshi banker who created the concept of the micro loan. Now used in developing countries across the world, micro loans dont require any collateral, and have a cap at around $200. Loans are paid back based on the honor system. Remarkably, the pay-back rate is phenomenally higher than the rate amongst standard loans that theoretically require good credit and collateral.

My first thought is that we should have them in the US. Then, common sense kicks in, and I realize they would never work here. There are too many con men, both rich and poor, that would take advantage of this, and run it into the ground.

Scorpion says---
The Honor System---worked great when I was a kid.Now- a look at credit card debt shows how the honor system doesn't work today.I pay my full credit card bill amount
on my ONE credit card every month,if the bill amount is five dollars or five thousand dollars,my
honor system today says pay the whole bill. This philosophy would be
needed to allow for micro loans. You are right Rhyno--micro loans would not work. The honor system, good to fantasize about that being workable again.

I am also saying that those with the money in this country would also scam the hell out of the idea. Look at what they did to alternative schools. It isnt poor and indigent people starting them up.

Bob Ney, Republican, Ohio, pleads guilty

OK, how about this:

What Democrat, who could possibly get the nomination, could you "live with" as President of the United States if elected in 2008? By "live with", I mean give the person a chance to do some good for the country and not try to undermine their presidency by any means possible. It's OK to work politically against policy. I mean accept by not screaming and alleging all sorts phoney accusations.

Who could you stomach for at least 4 years?

Is that a trick question? I couldn't stomach any of them because none of them speak with any intelligence or logic, I haven't heard one decent idea out of any of them and most of what they say otherwise is just mindless Bush-bashing. Even Lieberman, who understands the deal in the Mid East better than any of the other Dem chuckleheads, is still a chucklehead himself on every other issue. He would be the least reprehensible because he does project an image of sincerety and honor. Does that answer your question?

It certainly does. It tells me you are probably an uninformed, irrational, hateful bigot.

I'm a Democrat, and I'm a liberal. I think George W. Bush is the worst US president in modern history, and I believe the US, the world, and our children will be suffering the ill effects of his administration for decades to come.

But I don't dislike his presedency because he is a Republic or a Conservative. He's not a Conservative.

There are several Republics that I could live with if they were elected in 2008. There might even be one or two I could vote for. Because I don't HATE Republics or conservatives. I simply disagree with them most of the time.

Your question was "Who could you stomach for at least 4 years?" My answer was quite clear about why there is none that I could "stomach". The leading bunch of Dems are either liars, self-promoters, or plain stupid in their policy opinions and the thought of any of them in office for even half a term is greatly distasteful. There is nothing in that opinion that makes me "uninformed, irrational", or a "hateful bigot". Instead, it makes me insightful, aware, and very much concerned about the future of this country. It's not my fault your side can only offer up losers as candidates. Frankly, I'm quite saddened by the fact that there are no decent Dems for which a well meaning lib can cast a vote. It doesn't do the nation any good that this is the case.

So go ahead. What Dem is worthy of a vote in your opinion and why?

There are no perfect candidates, but there are people on both sides who have leadership qualities, intelligence, ideas, and more.

John Edwards
Wesley Clark
Al Gore
John Kerry
Chuck Hagel
John McCain
Joe Biden

I'm purposely leaving off Hillary Clinton. She is brilliant, politically saavy, and capable. However, if she were to become president, the following 4-8 years would be a repeat performance of the rabid Clinton haters who would stop at nothing to attempt to illegitimize her presidency. We would have nothing but the right wing, Clinton-hating lies of Whitewater, File Gate, Vince Foster, and all the other bullshit things that weren't true 15 years ago.

It would be a travesty, but I'd actually like to see this country move forward to solve problems, not listen to Clinton haters like Game obsess on things that didn't happen 10-15 years ago.

So no Hillary.

I *might* be able to stomach John Edwards, but that list is looking pretty putrid to me, jim.

Let's see the cons list and I bet I say the same thing.
