Congress open to passing bill on immigration

I think this will become a common style of post on this blog for the next two years.
Stuff the Dem's are doing that they forgot to campaign on, or mention at all.

A vast majority of Americans want a wall and do not want easy, blanket amnesty...
So why did you vote for Democrats?
You will now get NO FENCE, and people who broke the law to be here will be here to stay...sucking the life out of health care and education...
Thanks Dem's

I'm just floored you're going to keep this up for 2 more years. :)

I'm teasing, relax.

I'm unclear as to why you are trying to pin this on the Democrats. Oh, yeah, the Democrats are to blame for everything.

This is bill is essentially the same bill that was passed with bi-partisan support by a Republic majority Senate. It is the same thing Bush wants. It's the same thing that the big corporations want. So why did you vote for Bush or for Republics?

When the Senate did it, it was wrong...and conservatives helped vote out those turds...
I'm making sure we all understand that we just replaced them with new, fresher turds.

And the fact that Dem's should have run on this, since anyone witha brain knew this is something they wanted to do...

"It is the same thing Bush wants."

And it is one of those things over which we conservatives have disagreed with the prez. You may remember from any time we were accused of backing him unconditionally.

They want to grant frikking CITIZENSHIP to illegal aliens??????

Screw dat. I don't care who's doing it.

GWB isn't a helluva lot better about it.

Why can't they just... do their jobs 'n round 'em up and send them HOME like they're supposed to with illegal aliens???

Oh yeah, that's right. It takes work, and we can't have that. *smirk*

Y'know, it's so hard to have any respect for government & politicians when we see crap like this. From getting nothing done in Congress, to now this (and some other things in-between), I can't support a government that doesn't work for a living. I just can't. My $s & yours both are being used to pay them. Both Dem & Repub. And they're just sitting on their asses, doing nothing, taking the easy way out of everything.

Screw dat.

Then you will fully understand when I say it is also one of those things on which I and other populist type dems disagreed with the prez and the dems on. I'm not convinced the fence was a solution though. Just an expensive shot in the dark. Please spend my money wisely.

Your money? What'ya mean "your money"? Weren't you paying attention? The Dems won control of congress, there's no such thing as your money.

The Dems didn't need to run on this issue. Everybody new what the prevailing Democratic position was, the Dems were not going to win over the so-called Minute Man, or you for that matter, and Latin American citizens voted for the Dems in greater numbers this year than last. Plus, there is nothing going to happen on immigration without a compromise and you and the right-wing will not compromise on this issue.

So don't criticize them for not wasting their time on something that is not an issue for them in the election cycle.

Ron said...

Nope blamin, I sent it, I worked for it. My money. I am fine with them spending it. I want them to do it in a wise and productive way.

Dedanna said...

blamin, don't be an ass. You know that anyone and everyone who pays taxes (which is the entire U.S. population, other than those who don't work), it's their money. We the people run the government (or so it's supposed to be that way, but isn't in reality) because we all pay into it.

Have you heard of the expression “tongue-in-cheek”? I think you need to cut back on the incense.

Snips...

they did cost local governments $929 million in 2005

the report's results quickly became part of a brewing legislative debate over whether it is right for people who are in the country illegally to receive services paid for by citizens and legal resident taxpayers.

they also will send $5.2 billion home to their native countries this year

the federal government needs to halt illegal immigration

you also need a fair immigration plan

The $17.7 billion positive impact on the state's economy does not factor in any effects of the immigrants sending money home.

there are 135,000 undocumented children in the public school system, costing the state $957 million a year. Another 3,792 are in state colleges, costing about $11.2 million.

The total cost to incarcerate immigrants who commit crimes was estimated to be $49 million for counties statewide.

The biggest local cost was for indigent health care provided by counties and local hospital districts, estimated at $1.3 billion statewide.

State Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, who has introduced controversial legislation to end birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants, said he believes the costs are much higher than those in Strayhorn's report.

Citing a study done by the conservative Lone Star Foundation, Berman said the total cost to the state is $4.5 billion a year to provide services to immigrants, but he said they pay just $1 billion in tax collections.

"This is the net loss to the taxpayers of the state," he said.
