I really believe the American way of life is over.
We don't have the guts to punish anymore, we want to try and reason with people who break the law...and in many cases just let them get away with it...
It happens in our immigration laws and enforcement:
Immigration raid triggers Chicago protest...
Oakland condemns federal immigration raids; pledge not to cooperate with deportations...
In our schools, in certain neighborhoods, and it is spreading faster and faster as more and more people either figure out they don't have to follow any rules, or they come here from other countries knowing they don't have to follow any rules...

Sorry, but I think it is over

Gosh darn it!!! You uncaring, unfeeling calloused Nazi’s, you.
Don’t you realize there are victims out there!!! “Hoodlums” some say, I can’t believe they would actually say such a racist code word. Why, when a child starts his life with the whole deck stacked against him, how can you actually, even, consider, think, contemplate, holding him responsible for his actions?
Jesse told me, and I believe it – it’s not their fault they ran down a honor roll student on his bike, beat him senseless, left him permantly handicapped, and stole his “New Balance shoes”. After all society is at fault for flaunting such materialistic objects.
It doesn’t matter that our poor are overweight, or when asked what they need to make their life complete the answer is an Ipod, of course. Of course it’s all relative. If I’m overfeed, over weight, over indulged, my neighbor has a yacht and I don’t, then obviously something’s wrong with the system that needs to be fixed. And the bestest, onlyest way to do that is to take from him and give to me, ridicule him and excuse me. Damnit it all to hell!!! aarghhh
That answer sounds like you have a mental disorder...did you turn into a liberal?...Because that is what they actually believe...
I know, can't you just picture the drool running from my chin?
-But- in all fairness, they're supporting that which makes them feel good, kinda noble about themselves. And we all know intent is the most important thing.
Things are generally getting better, from economic prosperity to crime to the environment.
The media generally needs to report Gloom and Doom. Who would watch the news if the story was, "Everything OK, Carry On!"
Granted, there are areas where we can make progress. Medicaid needs to be reformed along the same lines of welfare. We need to make it easier to build nuclear power plants and oil refineries. More school choice will benefit everyone, and social security privatization will help younger lower-income workers get ahead.
But just because things aren't perfect doesn't mean they are bad. But there are dark clouds on the horizon, specifically from suidical fundies in the Middle East intoxicated by the prospect of martyrdom, who threaten us daily with Apocalyptic harm. All of the progress we've made in the last few hundred years -- equal rights for women, the abolition of slavery, the right to practice the religion of your choosing-- can be wiped out in a few very large blasts.
And the twisted left believes we will be getting what we deserve.
