MILLER LITE MAINSTAGE REVIEW:
Tonight was Disney/High School Musical night at the Wisconsin State Fair. It seems like I keep saying the acts are very nice people, but for a few days in a row this seems to be the case. Corbin Bleu decided to have some fun at the midway for a few hours. He constantly said "Thank you" to the police and security guards that went with him. He was extremely nice and polite to all his fans that wanted a second of his time. He is a young guy, and it would be easy to get annoyed that he is unable to do simple things like go on rides at a state fair, but Corbin seemed pleased to make everyones day. Even after the show he walked around to the front to give a few more people the chance to talk to him.
The show started off with Jordan Pruitt, a 16 year old cutie who tried to hide her southern drawl, but when you add it together with how sweet she and her mother were, it was obvious where she came from. She was so nervous to perform infront of the 8500 screaming children who packed the Miller Lite Mainstage last night. She did say she liked that the stage was back away from the crowd (about 10 feet to the wall), that helped her be less nervous. She asked me if it was okay to say we were in "Milwaukee." I told her, "Well, we are actually in West Allis, but most people say Milwaukee or Wisconsin State Fair." She thought for a second and said, "Well, I'll just say Wisconsin then." She was so cute as she paced back and forth, sometimes jumping up and down in excitement waiting to go on stage. Her show was a quick 20 minute Jessica Simpson-like performance. She has a great voice and did a few dance moves. It will be interesting to see if she can make it in the biz.
Drake Bell put on a pop/rock show. I don't know any of the songs, but they were catchy. Much more on the bubble gum/pop side, but he did have a full band.
Corbin Bleu put on a show packed from wall to wall with choreography. Again, it was more of a pop show, but I was amazed at the high quality of the dancing. It was like we had a young Michael Jackson at the fair (before the crazy set in.) The crowd was stuck in scream mode for almost an hour. I really hope this guy can keep it up. He has talent, seems to be a great person, and loves what he does.
I watched the Lumberjills today. They put on a great little half hour show. Go check them out. While you are over there, go get a turkey leg for the Charcoal Grill. Get the coupon out of the State Fair book and they are only 4 bucks.
BENNO NAMED 2007 WISCONSIN STATE FAIR VENDOR OF THE YEAR
For the 6th year in a row, Benno's microbrewery was voted number one, at least by the Miller Lite Mainstage security. I'll bring it up again, but here is another great guy. Some people seem to forget that if you are nice to people, they will be nice to you. Things work out so much better that way. He genuinely likes getting this award, and stayed to talk with us for over an hour. Much fun was had by all at Bennos once again Wednesday night.

Benno is always vendor of the year...do you look at other vendors at all?
The show and day seemed to be the way things ought to move smoothly at State Fair. Not many days left if you have not yet enjoyed the many great offerings at the WISCONSIN STATE FAIR.
In response to the first comment... this person obviously has never been to the fair. Every year the competition for the award is strong, be it from Saz'z, Millie's or new businesses like Water Street. But no vendor deserves this award more than BENNO. He treats people right! Which is so dearly missed in the mismanaged state fair of today.
