Two Calif. cities to vote on banning smoking in apartments

This is the Left's strong point.
They never stop trying.
They want smoking banned everywhere.
They know they can't just say it and legislate it, so they do it one small step at a time.
At first they said, "We have to ban it in bars, its not safe for the workers."
Then it was on to the workplace.
They all public buildings
Then on public property
In real liberal areas it even has been tried in the car and in people's homes.

My opinion...atleast in private businesses, it should be up to the owner of the business.
Smoking is legal, if a business owner doesn't want it, they can ban it....or make smoking illegal.
Public buildings and property...I guess you can't complain as much.
This is another case of people trying to dictate what people do in their own personal lives.
It is taking away choice again...so I guess the people who claim to be pro-choice, are once again only pro-choice in ONE situation.

Why is this a "left" issue? What has "the Left" got to do with it? I know of no effort by "the Left" to ban smoking everywhere. Can you cite any evidence whatsoever that "the Left" wants to ban smoking everywhere?"

I didn't think so.

Private businesses hire humans and are subject to all kinds of government regulations regarding health and safety. It's call OSHA if I'm not mistaken. Smoking in the workplace obviously constitutes a health and safety issue so it should rightly be regulated, public buildings or private businesses.

I couldn't care less if someone smokes in their own home.

That's totally rude.

And parklife is correct about one thing.

There's no possible correlation that can be made between the right to smoke in one's apartment and reproductive rights for women.

You take every opportunity, sometimes inappropriately, to ram your fanatical, extremist moral opinions down everyone's throat, most likely to cause strife among your commenters.

This is unnecessary, and you really need to stop and think, before you do your typical game thing of blaming everyone else for the quality of comments, about how much YOU do to inflame and cause unnecessary tension between folks.

Exactly.

Where I live, the only ones who want to ban smoking are Midwestern yuppie transplants from stodgy conservative WASP homes, fitness freaks, overzealous "born-agains" from the apostate cults, and the occasional EX-smoker (who can sometimes be more intolerant than anyone)...

Virtually ALL of these types in my neck of the woods are rightists.

How misguided.

Folks, who stands to benefit more from stringent, forced smoking bans in urban areas?

That edgy goth lefty chick who works the cigarette counter over at Walgreens', who's actually supporting herself and her family, and putting herself through school?

Or, the GIANT MULTINATIONAL pharmaceutical corporations that Jason supports, who manufacture costly smoking cessation meds and "cures" that rarely work, yet encourage the user not to quit, but to try, and try, and try again?

Now, if Jason had his way, these multinational corporations would be completely unregulated, with no oversight.

Things have already deterioriated to a point where the government denies basic care to native-born American babies and children, although you'll note that the children of foreigners that Jason's crowd brought in for cheap labor always seem to have their medical needs met, gratis.

Would it surprise me if Hillary's in on it? Probably not. She's the second largest recipient, behind Lieberman, of funds from the Israel lobby.

She is as big of a neocon as Krauthammer is, and, as us, I fully expect her to profit off the misery of others, as neocons do.

She's certainly no "lefty".

So, carry on in mediocrity....
