Hillary's High-Stepping

For the two people who do not know already:

At a Democratic debate in Philadelphia, Sen. Hillary Clinton ducked some questions and gave misleading answers to others.

She avoided a yes-or-no answer to whether she supports giving New York driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and at one point denied saying the idea made sense, when in fact she said less than two weeks earlier that it "makes a lot of sense.
She avoided saying what, if anything, she would do about Social Security taxes or benefits, saying a commission should study the system "if" it has problems, and saying that acting as though the troubled system is in "crisis" is "a Republican trap."

She said that "all of the records, as far as I know" of her failed 1993 effort to overhaul the health care system have been released by the National Archives. That's far from true -- there are still more than 3 million to go.

Well, when the questions as posed are misleading, what would you do? If Tim Russert misquotes you in order to manufacture a "gotcha" moment, what would you do?

It's funny that pundits watching the debate in real time thought Hillary did a good job. Only later, when they decided what their narrative should be, did they say she'd stumbled.

Jay,

Come on, you can do better than that. Hillary's group, the Soros funded Media Matters as the source for your Hillary defense? Are you a tool or what?

So, pcd, what part of it was false?

Here's a sample:
Later, President Clinton blasted Russert for his "breathtakingly misleading" question. The Annenberg Public Policy Center's FactCheck.org agreed, concluding that Russert "misled" with his question by "misquot[ing]" a letter from President Clinton. Correcting its earlier claim that Hillary Clinton's answer to Russert's question was "doubly misleading," FactCheck concluded, "Russert was wrong, and so were we. Bill Clinton ... called Russert's question 'breathtakingly misleading,' and we now agree. Russert did not respond to requests for comment."

What part of that was false? Did FactCheck.org not call Russert's question misleading?

Or here:
Note that Russert went out of his way to make sure the audience understood that he was quoting Clinton directly: "You said, quote, 'It's a no.' " But he wasn't telling the truth. She hadn't said those words that he was so careful to make clear she had said.
What part of that was wrong? Was it true or false that Russert misquoted Hillary--or, more accurately, attributed a statement to her that she did not make?

I can understand why you might be skeptical of Media Matters (though, in fact, George Soros never gave them a dime and, frankly, hasn't been funding progressives at all in the last three years). But if you can't prove any of it a lie, then don't bother to even comment.

Jay,

We all know any HARD question to Hillary is misleading, and Hillary has a long history of LYING in answers. So, from the get go we'll have to agree to disagree.

Second, when pinned down on the sourcing of their funding, Media Matters had to change their denial. They, as well as you, know the money came originally from Soros through Soros owned and directed entities. Only tools like you will split hairs ad infinitem to try to give some legitimacy to Media Matters.

Now, to the meat of the matter, Hillary is trying to straddle the question and won't give the true answer that she supports amnesty and giving illegals legal documents to enable them to vote (for her) in US elections and to invalidate US Immigration laws.

Oh, since you can't think of an original parting shot, here's a golden oldie for you: "Jay, when are you going to apologize to the game for lying about Democrats not wanting to raise taxes after the election?"

As soon as you can find where I said that.

Just like Russert: You make shit up and then try to hold me accountable to it.

Jay,

You'll have to answer to the game as he was saying the same thing about you for months.

Jay Bullock said...

pcd, and every time he did, I asked him when I said that.

He could never find it. Nor can you. Because I didn't say it.

PCD said...

Jay, that is bull. You were always saying that the Democrats would not raise taxes and that no Democrat was campaigning to do so. When shown one Democrat with such a campaign, you shut up and disappeared.

Oh, and Hillary has admitted that the questions Russert posed to her were not misleading. She read the polls telling her the public didn't believe her.
