Tony Snow tells it like it is

Some highlights from Snows acceptance speech:

Reporters and editors for three decades have sneered at accusations of bias, as if the claim were novel — it is not — unthinkable — it is not — or false — which it also is not.The major media organs in this country have become purveyors of conventional wisdom— generally, conventional liberal wisdom.
The Roper Organization conducted a poll after the 1992 election and discovered that 93 percent of Washington political reporters voted for Bill Clinton. Only 2 percent identified themselves as “conservative.”
Subsequent surveys have indicated a similar spread in party affiliation, which makes the Washington Press Corps the most reliable Democratic voting bloc in the nation.

And what about conventional wisdom? For months, the media avoided asking about progress in Iraq. Despite repeated reports from the field that Iraqis had turned against al Qaeda, the news seldom made it into newspapers, and almost never on front pages. Last week, the military reported that civilian deaths in Iraq had hit their lowest point since 2003. U.S. and Iraqi deaths and casualties similarly had declined. So what led the paper the next morning? Stories about Blackwater. The statistics that put the war in perspective were relegated to the back pages of the Washington Post and in some publications, to oblivion.

Tony has the right to express his opinions. But, I can't stand it when he starts lying! His lies on Iraq are truly disgusting. In his opinion, was there any time period when we were NOT making progress in Iraq? It takes honesty to admit the facts.

As to the ‘reporting only the bad side’ in media – What’s wrong with him? Media always highlights the bad, strange, weird things in our world. That’s how they get our attention. People need to be realistic!

was the 93% comment a lie?
was the fact people are returning to their homes a lie?'
yep, there is that misuse of the word lie again...
the lie is being over 90 percent liberal yet claiming to be fair and balanced

American,

Every minute, we stay in Iraq, proving the grit and determination of free people is progress. In the eyes of the islamofacist whose biggest weapon is fear, the willingness of peoples to stand up and do that which is extremely difficult is a “nail in the coffin” to their cause, every minute it happens.

You people should know better, defeatist putz!

- Was it a lie that we have lost more than 3500 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed in Iraq?

- Was it a lie that we have reached a point where ‘less number of Americans dying per month’ qualifies to be ‘good news’ on Iraq front?

- Was it a lie that ‘law and order’ situation in Iraq is so pathetic that we can’t even take a walk down the street without an army of soldiers protecting us?

As I said earlier, people like Tony Snow lost credibility long time ago by never admitting mistakes or facts on the ground. I understand that it was his job to cheerlead and do the spinning. (He did lots of shameless spinning during ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’ bill as well) Even when the situation was really bad in Iraq, liars like Tony Snow never admitted it. He belongs to the same group as other morons like Michelle Malkin who kept repeating the talking points of ‘Safe Iraq’!!! It’s pathetic to see him complaining about Blackwater-story now!! What does he expect us to do? Listen to his spin?

Of course, media reported the progress we made in Iraq when it was progress in real sense. Who do you think brought those pictures of our army marching into Baghdad or bringing down Saddam statue? Was it Tony Snow’s radio show?? I can’t see how anybody with minimum IQ can believe in his spinning!!

Blamin ,
Please stop your garbage of ‘grit and determination’!! It’s so easy to write those lines from the comfort of your warm living room, right? Uh!

Fear? What the hell you are talking about? Define ‘fear’ for me in the eyes of a guy who is ready to strap a bomb around his chest and blow himself!!! It’s amazing to see how ‘disconnected’ you are from reality. It’s an ideology that we need to address. It’s the same ideology that kept Viet congs fighting in the face of massive bombing. When you address the root cause, you can control the problem. It takes honesty, guts, intelligence and willingness to talk.

Also, our actions do have unintended consequences. Take for example, Turkey – Only 2% of the population favors America as compared to 52% in 2000! Go figure now! (Yea, go and blame dems as usual now)

By staying back and killing more and more American troops and Iraqis, we are not going to make any ‘progress’!! It would only spread ‘anti-American’ sentiments in the region.

Again, it requires honesty and true courage to change the situation, not the cowboy diplomacy.

"Media always highlights the bad, strange, weird things in our world. That’s how they get our attention. People need to be realistic!"

It's a little different reporting on a war. They know there are those who are concerned about the war and to report or highlight ONLY the negative aspects is in effect, false reporting. For the public to get a good handle on the war, they need to know what's going on as far as progress and allied victories.

" - Was it a lie that we have reached a point where ‘less number of Americans dying per month’ qualifies to be ‘good news’ on Iraq front? "

It's not a lie, but it's damned shameful that because American deaths are highlighted in a manner to support and arouse anti-war sentiment that the good news of fewer deaths must now be pointed out at all to show the progress our troops and the current policies are now working.

There has been acknowledgment of the struggles of this war. Indeed, the administration's official line was that the war will be such a struggle. That it has been is no surprise to those with common sense who realize that such things are rife with unexpected events. It is, after all, a war. Shit happens. Shit happening is expected in wartime. That it comes as such a surprise to the left is telling.

american,

You really, honestly, have no clue do you?

Of course the poor puppet has no idea behind his puppet masters plan. Of course the puppet has no fear. BUT the puppet master is fully aware of the fear he puts forth.

Frankly, I’m surprised you haven’t figured out the basic philosophy of our enemy.

Go figure!

How in the hell, should you even perceive of the threat facing the free world?

Talk about the comfort of the living room. I guess, if it’s not in your front yard, it’s not a threat.

Go ahead; wait until the threat hits your front yard. Me? I prefer little pre-frontal-yard action.

Go ahead, wallow in the comfort that people with backbone has provided for you.

I wonder what would’ve happened back in the 1700’s when, after one set back behind another, people like you had the “ear of the people”.

I’ll tell you what would’ve happened, this post would be in French!

Putz!

Excuse me, “clueless Putz!”

PS.

I apologize for the tone of my post, it’s my hope that all the people of this great (gasp) nation will realize their potential and overcome their fears.

The fog of war. Preparing for the unexpected. Realizing we can't foresee all possibilities, yet trying to all the same.

Failing in our attempts to foresee, yet trying anyway. Forecasting most conceivable situations, and having to react to unforeseen situations. And trying to succeed anyway.

This is the reality of war. That many don’t understand, or seize upon the only circumstances we have foreseen (i.e. the unpredictable) is very telling.

Yet we try anyway.

Some would throw up their hands and give up after the first unpredictable event. Some after the second or third or sixth.

Some realize the very nature of war and press forward even after the nth time.

Some would try to profit off of the very nature of war, and advance their political careers on the backs of those that are struggling to do the right thing, to hang in there and fight even though the NY Times or SF Chronicle suggest it’s a losing proposition

Damn, I’m glad to live in this country! Accuse me of being bourgeois if it helps you to look in the mirror!

Insert insult here ---- , and feel the contempt here ----

Blamin,

What are you smoking, man? Did you forget to read my post in the loudness of your own rhetoric? I used the words ‘courage’ and 'guts' in my post!! So, stop using the word ‘fear’, ok?

You are a good man , but totally misinformed and ignorant.

When you calm down a little bit, I suggest take a look at American foreign policies in the last 50 years or so with a clear mind. We made many shortsighted decisions that only came back to bite us. As we speak, take a look at how we are dealing with PKK and Pakistan situation. Go back and take a look at how America supplied Nuclear reactors to Iran back in 1967 !! Yes, Iran – We supplied them the reactors, not the ‘evil’ Chinese!! (Do you know a company called 'GE'?? wink, wink ) Go and read about how we supported Bin Laden during Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Go and read about how USA financed radical Islam to fight Soviets. There were many CIA operatives living in Peshawar area (NW frontier - Pakistan), training the same people we are fighting today!!)

My point is – there are unintended consequences to what you do. If you are smart, you will think before you make a move for short-term gain. Unfortunately, we have people like you who have this strange notion that the whole world is after us and we need to bomb them all.

Rightly or wrongly, we invaded Iraq, which turned out to be one of our biggest blunders. I will have much more appreciation and respect for Bush if he steps forward and admits his mistake. We all make mistakes. Instead, to spread more lies with the support of jokers like Tony Snow is criminal.

And, it’s stupid as well.

American,

Now it is YOUR rhetoric that needs to be reigned in.

"Unfortunately, we have people like you who have this strange notion that the whole world is after us and we need to bomb them all."

Patently ridiculous and unworthy of the conversation. Also, you might wait 'till death to hear Bush admit attacking Iraq was a mistake, since it being a mistake is an opinion he doesn't share. Nor do I. The bigger problem is with the short term consequences of what occurred before the attack, including the Oil for Food debacle, the attacks on our planes patrolling the no-fly zone, and Hussein's dance moves with the inspectors while he was biding his time. All of those things, and more, are now over thanks to deposing him. Other things, like Libya acting tough, is also over. There have been good consequences coming out of this war, but the left refuses to see it because they want the good feelings of foreign lefties to rain down upon us. This was the right thing to do, even if it was done in a less than perfect manner.

PCD,

You didn’t address not even a single case of our foreign policy ‘double standards’ and how they have led to some of the issues that we are fighting today. Most of your ‘rhetoric’ is direct talking points from the far-right radio talk show hosts.

“There have been good consequences coming out of this war, but the left refuses to see it because they want the good feelings of foreign lefties to rain down upon us.” – Equally ridiculous and unworthy of the conversation.

Definitely Tony Snow is smarter than you because he at least know that he is lying!!
