GOP Stunned By Loss in Mississippi

I don't see any signs to show the GOP is going to be able to win the fight against every historical marker that says they will get another beat down in November 2008.
We have a bad economy, a war too many people do not like, and we had a Republican in the White House for 8 years....all those point toward the Dems cleaning up.
Now, I'm sure they will try and lose the election...but I don't believe that McCain is willing to fight at all to win...so he will end up losing by 10 or 12 points...
Unless things change or the GOP wakes up, Dems will control the House, Senate and White House...
they you can look forward to:
A HUGE, HUGE increase in taxes for anyone who works and makes more than min. wage.
More and more and more handouts to make sure helpless people stay dependant on the govt.
new terror attacks around the world and in the US after we leave Iraq and give them enough time to regroup.
Well, you will deserve it...problem is I will not deserve it but will suffer the consequences anyway...

You are exactly right. The Democrats will ship anyone who is not on a government program to Mars. Only welfare recipients will be left to inhabit the earth.

I'm personally pissed off with Republican administration on may issues - extreme spending, no control on illegal immigration, bad steps in Iraq war, stubbornness in sticking to the old energy policy- ignoring the need for new technologies....

What people desperately need is - honesty. You know what you get with a Dem. That can't be said about the Republicans. However, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of rhetoric and fear mongering. Unfortunately, people are fed up with rhetoric. They have decided to teach a lesson, I guess.

american...you were doing fine until you said that you know what you get with a Dem...
Only if you are smart..
If you simply listen to them campaign, you think you are getting a moderate conservative...cause that is how they all get elected...they move right, right, right...
They pretend they are tough on crime, pretend they will not raise taxes, pretend they want people to get a job and not come here illegally...then they do nothing...

However, you are correct on most of the things that piss you off about republicans right now...

"A HUGE, HUGE increase in taxes for anyone who works and makes more than min. wage." - untrue, of course. you're saying that anyone earning less than $200k doesn't "work for a living?" what an elitist you are!

"More and more and more handouts to make sure helpless people stay dependant on the govt." - no proof of that.

"new terror attacks around the world and in the US after we leave Iraq and give them enough time to regroup." - there is no demonstrable connection between the us presence in iraq and terrorism attacks around the world except the opposite of what you assert.

Damn!!! Game,

Such gloom.

Obama, has major baggage that’s yet to be vetted. Don’t give up quite yet.

McCain’s a joke…but he’s a much better joke than either Obama or Clinton.

McCain is going to go down in history as the cause of a legitimate “3rd” party candidate. How long are you willing to support “the lessor of evils”.

Conservatives and Libertarians are waiting for the “right” candidate. In the near future, the man that energizes those two groups is the man that wins it all!

That man will have to do it from within the Republican party. I just don't think a 3rd party candidate will ever get enough support to be more than a spoiler, so I don't want a conservative giving it a try. But a lib can do it all they want. Anything to help keep them out of power until people with real thoughts join the party.

anon,

" - there is no demonstrable connection between the us presence in iraq and terrorism attacks around the world except the opposite of what you assert. "

This flies in the face of what every lib says about our efforts in the ME. Our presence supposedly has helped recruit more scumbags. And even the scumbags look at Iraq as an important front of their war on everything decent.

that's my point, marshall. our presence foments terrorist attacks, not prevents them.

I could never become a conservative. It's not in my nature or view of morals and values. I could find things to agree with and work with you on if the conservatives would take up some of the libertarian principals though. Defense of the Constitution would be at the top of the list. Not being the worlds policeman and sticking our nose in every event would be another. Right now you guys offer me not a morsel. Hopefully that won't always be the case.
