Yes, we should have just let the entire economy go down the drain.
There have been steady deficits since Clinton left office. A month here or there of surplus is of no consequence.
The largest component of the deficit today, after the effects of the economic downturn, is the Bush-era tax cuts. By 2012, the effect of TARP, Fannie and Freddie as well as the recovery measures will PALE in comparison to the effects of the tax cuts.
But that's what you get with a Reagan-Bush-Bush "conservative".
