Fair breaks last year's attendance total

Perfect weather brought last-day crowds to the Wisconsin State Fair in force Sunday, pushing attendance past last year's total and topping out at 876,020, a 5% increase over 2009, according to fair spokeswoman Patrice Harris.

The numbers were as of 2 p.m. Sunday.

Aside from a problem with the Sky Glider opening night, she said there were no other major glitches with rides or facilities and no major crowd troubles.

Among new attractions, the Days of the Dinosaur was the big winner, Harris said, drawing more than 55,000 visitors.

She also thanked the community for again supporting Hunger Task Force Day, when about 40,000 fair patrons donated 158 thousand pounds of food
