GOP Voters Like Three Candidates Best for 2012

The latest Rasmussen Poll states: Asked who they would vote for if the Republican presidential primary were held today, 20% say Romney, 19% Huckabee and another 19% Palin.

Again, I am going to say this is a very big mistake.  If the GOP nominates wishy-washy conservatives (read Romney and Huckabee) or someone that too many people see unfavorably (read Palin) then we will have 4 more years of Obama.

The GOP needs to nominate someone more along the lines of the candidates that won this time around.  True, principled conservatives that are not insane (read O'Donnell and Angle).

Right now I believe the BEST choice is conservative Paul Ryan from WI.  He is EXACTLY the right candidate for the times.  He is very fiscally Conservative.  He is not afraid to offer actual plans instead of just use talking points.

The other big time candidate might be Marco Rubio.  It might be too soon for him, but he doesn't need a teleprompter to speak, he seems conservative, looks good, and can peel away some of the Hispanic vote.

Do not let history repeat itself.  Every time the GOP nominates a moderate they lose big (read Dole and McCain).

Who would you like to see in '12.  You understand the campaign will start ramping up in about 2 months...

I agree those three are a pretty sorry slate. Romney is working harder than the others. He has visited something like 35 states in the last year and spoke to hundreds of groups. But he is too robotic. Palin and Hucklebee are not worthy of serious discussion.

Paul Ryan is an empty suit. He looks like a young Reagan but not even R's are supporting his roadmap to ruin. He might make a decent VP candidate if the GOP had a strong presidential contender who didn't need to choose a running mate from a big state.

One thing is for sure - you will need a middle of the road conservative, not a tea party nutjob. It is probably a governor like Christie or Pataki but the reactionary wing of the GOP will want a pro-life, anti-gay marriage Bible thumper.

Middle of the road consrvative? You wish! A sure prescription for defeat within the GOP is what you've described. I know how you people define "middle of the road", and it has no basis in reality.

Seems how the majority of Americans support the Tea Party, AND consider themselves Christain, the median American voter would be way right of were you believe them to be. You've witnessed a re-awakening of the American populace. I hope you remember the 2008 elections fondly, because radical leftist will be holding on to those memories for a long time.

I hate to burst your bubble, but strong conservatives will retake the GOP and you'll have nothing left but fond memories of what "almost was" for radical moonbats.

Paul Ryan is tits. I also like Rubio, and have a huuuuge Chris Christie mancrush. Alas, none of these guys are likely running.

Our best best in 2012 is probably someone like John Thune, Mike Pence, or Mitch Daniels.

Palin is the GOP equivalent of Howard Dean and would be slaughtered in the general.

Romney is our version of John Kerry; the flipflops will eventually catch up to him.

Polls show that Huckabee can win, though Christian socialism is my least favorite kind.

That said, I will vote for any of the above over Comrade Obama.

Mike Pence, Thune or Daniels?

Losers, and unelectable. All of them.
