McKinney out

Well, it was refreshing to see one of the worse congress members in history outed last night. Atleast some voters got it right yesterday. Make sure you read the whole story, so you can see how McKinney continued to be a moron til the very end. Here is a sample:

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) -- Rep. Cynthia McKinney, known for her conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11 attacks and a scuffle with a U.S. Capitol police officer, conceded the Democratic primary runoff early Wednesday in a speech that blamed the media for her loss and included a song criticizing President Bush.

McKinney, the state's first black congresswoman, said electronic voting machines are "a threat to our democracy" and lashed out a journalists, accusing them of injuring her mother and failing to "tell the whole story."

You know what's really sad? While I'm not a feminist by any means, I do like to see educated women being elected into office, when just 20 years ago it was nearly impossible.

HOWEVER, in saying that, the sad part comes when one or two go out and seem to give the entire "revolution" a bad name. Hillary...McKinney...I know there has to be SOME female politician worth following!!!

Conspiracy theories? Are you kidding me? Maybe it was the republicans who are secretly friends with bin Laden and funded his terrorist activities in an effort to make President Bush look good...and then, uh, look bad too? Goodness. I'm not saying there have never been conspiracies in the US government. But let's be serious here. And electronic voting machines are a threat? Why? Because they're afraid an accurate count will be taken of votes instead going by some counter's "opinion" on whether it's a "hanging chad" or a countable vote? Sure, I don't particularly ENJOY the fact the government will somehow be attuned to my voting preferences...but COME ON! That's why we vote, right?

I didn't hear about this story. I'm glad you posted it.

I have no fondness for McKinney. She did not represent me. I didn't like what I saw or heard from her.

However, she's absolutely right about electronic voting machines as currently implemented. As long as private companies are the only ones who control the software (and they do), as long as there is no paper trail (and there isn't), as long as any semi-competent hacker can hack the machines (and they can), as long as anybody with a key can come into a polling place and open a machine during polling (and they have), then electronic voting machines are an extreme danger to our democracy.

The only thing electronic voting machines should be asked to do is produce a ballot which unquestionably represents the intent of the voter and can be counted optically and manually.

That's it!

I have always used a paper ballot that you have to fill in the arrow for the person you wanted...what is wrong with that?
I agree with Jim that there MUST be some paper trail...why can't their be..this is all an over reaction to the stupid liberals who went crazy in Florida when you LOST that election...so I guess you can blame yourself
