We lost a lot of good people last night -- J.D. Hayworth, George Allen, Curt Weldon, Jim Talent -- while the Democrats put an open Communist (Sanders) and a Muslim (Ellison) in the United States Congress.
Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come, or the Republic is toast.
I agree...some of the people who "lost" were really good people... I guess if you want to say anything positive, many Dem's that "won" were conservative in many values
In my state, if you didn’t know better, you would’ve thought all the candidates were Republicans. Every one of them campaigned on supporting conservative issues – socially and economically, Iraq was rarely mentioned.
It will be very interesting to see is if these so-called ConDems will remain true to their campaign rhetoric. Or, will they go along with the far left, libweenie, Pelosi wing of the party in order to gain power, believing the Democrat voters will remain true to form by being uninformed/disconnected next election and re-voting them (ConDems) into office after campaigning as Cons again.
Without a bendover Congress for Queen Bush, and a bendover Assembly for Dirty Doyle, there are no more excuses. Maybe some progress can get made, instead of one admins faulty desires.
Sorry Jim. While we deal with radical Islam looking to kill anyone who isn't Muslim, and some who are, having a Muslim taking part in running the country doesn't appeal. Perhaps if they were a little more vocal about opposing the radicals the weird feeling would fade. But then, libs don't have the intelligence to understand the gravity of the radical Islamic problem.
Rummie wasn't the problem. Dem obstructionism is. This move is cosmetic and done to shut libs up for a while.
Rhyno hasn't the moral standing to declare anyone a scumbag. Try to explain your beef with Santorum. I could use a laugh.
Go screw yourself. You are calling me a bigot for picking on bigots who support a bigot. You are an ignorant leftwing hack.
Keith Ellison is a member of the Nation of Islam. You know, that's Louis Farrakhan's anti-semitic organization. Ellison has called Jews "the most racist white people." Ellison defended the Vice Lords gangbangers who were charged and convicted of killing of Minneapolis police officers-- as he put it, "we don't get no justice, you don't get no peace." Moreover, he helps fundraising for the terrorist front group CAIR.
I will never apologize for criticizing human religion, especially Islam. You guys bash devout Christians like Rick Santorum with impunity, so take your holier-than-thou PC-crap and shove it.
I know nothing about Ellison so I admit to ignorance about him. If you had said who or what he was, I might have had a different reaction. But you simply said he was a Muslim which practically begs for a charge of bigotry.
There is a difference between bashing people who happen to be Christians and bashing Christianity. Here the bashing of Islam surpasses the bashing of Christianity by orders of magnitude.
And tolerance of others' religious beliefs is not PC. It is a basic tenet of the Bill of Rights as written by our founding fathers.
I just saw Senator-elect McCaskill on Chris Matthews talking about how we cannot impose Democracy at the barrel of a gun.
History says another thing, as we did impose freedom at the point of the gun in Italy, Japan, and Germany during the last century. Moreover, other areas of the world, like Russia, have made the transition from totalitarianism to democracy without civil strife.
What's creating the violence in Iraq then? Is it America being the bully? Is it al Queda? No one wants to contemplate this, but perhaps Islam, which generally sees the separation of Mosque and State as heretical, is the problem. If one doesn't draw that distinction, you'll see people getting butchered over every little theological nuance-- which is exactly what we're seeing in Iraq.
A bigot is a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion. I'm open to most cultural groups from Indians to Chinese to Mexicans. But with Islam, I suspect many in the West are imposing their own views on them --whether it be the right, which thinks humans have an innate thirst for freedom, or the left, which sees people as products of their economic conditions -- without regard to historical and cultural circumstances.
That the first Muslim in the U.S. Congress is a dirtbag like Keith Ellison isn't an accident, and we'll see more of this crap, given Europe often is how we'll look in 20 years.
Are you suggesting that most (or many) humans don’t have an “an innate thirst for freedom”? I believe people whom have always been free have no idea of the consuming desire of the oppressed to have at least a little control (or the illusion of control) over their own destinies, regardless of their historical or cultural circumstances.
By the way, have you read the Orson Scott Card piece on the war on terror? Man, I’m telling you, it spells out the realities of this war pretty damn good. It’s long – about 11 pages, but well worth the read. The “meat” of the article is about pages 2 through 8.
Wow! I just read the whole piece by Orson Scott Card. He CAN'T really be a Dem to nail it so well. (I guess the shots and Reagan and Hannity say he is.) I wish I had known of this when it was first printed (before Real Clear Politics). I'd have blasted it to all my friends and aquaintences no matter their political leanings. Superb! All those who come here and complain about the war, go read it now! Then you will have gotten a clue.

Hey hey hey....Good BYE!

he will be back, maybe your next president...he didn't pretend to be something he wasn't, and that is noble
just you calling him a scub bag shows what a great person he is
Well, something came out of it all -- Donald Rumsfeld resigned.
Jason said perjoratively, "the Democrats put...a Muslim...in the United States Congress."
Jason shows his true heart:
He is a bigot.

Oh sure Rhyno, you're the cats. But what makes you think I'm a homophobe? Are you a mo and feel offended by my comments of brotherly love?
Jim--
Consider this.
