Walker to propose privatizing Milwaukee County Zoo

I think I might have to side against Walker on this one...
And just so you liberals know Walker is quite conservative.

You always have to take things on a case by case basis, and in this case I am not sure private business can do better than how it is being done now.
I'm not positive, but maybe.

There are some things that just can not run on ticket sales alone. I realize things like the theatre and the arts in general need private (and public) funds to operate, but the quality of their work IS their job.

In the case of something like the zoo or the bus system the private companies would just say, "we are not going to lose money, so the quality of our product is going to have to go down"

They will say they need to raise prices or lower quality. We have probably the third nicest zoo in the United States, and I guess I am just tired of all the reason Milwaukee might still be a good place to live being taken away.

My tax money goes for a lot of things I don't use, here is one my family uses just about every week.
That is a big problem with govt today, they take more and more from less and less people, then give most of that money to people who didn't pay anything in the first place.

The museum has had a tough time since the county let it become a private enterprise...they should really be careful with the zoo...

I agree with Game. However, this shows how we can *understand* certain issues when it directly affects us/our family and ridicule when it affects someone else.

It's all about striking a balance between capitalism and socialism since nothing is perfect. I know - it's a struggle for every country/society/individual to find the balance.

I can only hope that more and more people understand this and stop opposing everything *blindly* based on their political affiliation.

Peace.
